Bondi to Coogee Walk

Begin at Sydney’s iconic Bondi Icebergs swimming club and restaurant, where surf washes into the Bondi Baths below and bronzed bathers lap in the sun. A paved path will take you round the headland to Tamarama, where you can marvel at 2000 year old traditional Aboriginal rock carvings at Mark’s Park.

For three weeks each spring, the largest annual sculpture exhibition in the world, Sculptures by the Sea, illuminates the Bondi to Tamarama section of the coastal walk. Be dazzled by over 100 sculptures on this spectacular outdoor stage. This is the largest outdoor exhibition of its kind.

During the warmer months, cool off at one of many historic ocean pools along the way, from Giles Baths and the women only McIvers Baths to the famous Wylie Bathsin Coogee. Beautiful Bronte boasts a natural sheltered rock pool called the Bogey Hole popular with families, as well as a grassy picnic area with barbecues. The secluded Gordon’s Bay is another hidden gem. This picturesque little beach is popular with snorkellers and scuba divers.

There are many opportunities to Indulge in a coffee with some of the best views in Sydney. Relax at local Bronte favourites Nourish Kitchen & Espresso and The Bogey Hole Cafe. From here you can walk by the famous Waverley Cemetery, which looks over the ocean. This panoramic spot offers fascinating insight into Australia’s heritage and includes many prominent Australians, including celebrated poet Henry Lawson.

Round the last headland lies Coogee. Protected from ocean swells by nearby Wedding Cake Island, this beach is a perennial favourite with families and holidaymakers. You will love the calm surf, natural rock pools and parkland for picnics and barbecues. Head to the Coogee Pavillion for a well earned wood-fired pizza or treat the kids to an ice-cream at one of the plentiful cafes along the promenade.
